Dyeing your hair black

Good afternoon everyone! Today I will be sharing with you about dyeing your hair black.

To many of us who loves vibrant hair colours, hair colours forms part of our identity. As much as we love to have our hair coloured to the many beautiful shades, I believe that in some point of time we would want to have a break from those colours, either for work related reasons or for hair health.

At this point, one would have two options:

To stop going for retouch and let the regrowth retain their natural colours
To dye your hair black

Choosing option one would mean to bear with a “pudding-like” head of hair – one characterised by obvious seam between the natual hair colour and the artifical hair colour – for significant period of time. In light of this, many would opt to go for option two. But before you go ahead with option two, do consider if you are planning to colour your hair to a lighter shade in the near future.

Black dyes are notoriously difficult to be removed. In fact, even bleach may not sufficiently remove black dyes, reason being that bleach are designed to decolourise natural melanin, not artificial colourants. And working with hair with black dye residue in them is extremely challenging, because any colour applied on them will become muddy.

As such, we would advice you to think twice before dying your hair black. Make sure you are commited to the colour for a period of time.
