Cute Things About Our Stylists

Hello! This is Sharmine, some of you might have seen me around the shop before! Today will be my last day working at Art-Noise (I started working in December, but not daily since we translators work on a rotational basis), so let me just share some cute little things I observed about our dear hair stylists here at Art-Noise.

Seiya

He is almost always fully booked, so he’s constantly working back-to-back (especially these past few weeks!). As a result, sometimes he don’t even get time to keep his receipts properly – yet, he is always so very meticulous with his customers. No wonder he is almost always fully booked.
He is really kind!!!!! He gave us souvenirs when he got back from his few days trip to Japan. Even to us part-timers. And also red packet money during Chinese New Year. For the uninitiated – Japan does have a red packet giving culture, but it is done during their New Year, i.e., 1st of January, so when he gave me the red packet during our CNY I was very touched. Also, this is on top of him knowing that Singaporeans only give red packets when you’re married… How kind can a person get?
He often wears a bow tie along with his collared shirts, I think he’s trying to make it his signature look. The next time you come to our salon, maybe you can see if he’s wearing his signature bow tie XD

Toshie

Toshie is very very attentive to details She remembers a lot of small little things about customers, I’m sure if you’re her regular customer you’ll know what I’m talking about. I gues this is the reason why she has a lot of regular customers too! It really is like talking to a friend (all of our stylists are very friendly actually), while getting yourself pampered.
She is very cute! The way she speaks, the way she carries herself is always very cute. She likes Miffy, so she always draws tons of Miffy all on her notes. I’m always cheered up by her cute doodles! If you like Miffy too, maybe you can talk to her about it as well
She will always confirm with us translators how to pronounce her customers’ names before greeting each customer. I find that very sweet of her, and I really, really like that about her. Also, for customers who find it hard to pronounce her name, maybe you can try calling her Tiffany instead! I’m sure she will be delighted to hear that.

Keiko

She is one of of newest stylist here at Art-Noise, yet she almost never ever asks me for help with translating. Many of her customers have praised her English as well, and that’s really due to how hardworking she is. When she gets off work early, she’ll actually study with an English Grammar book, and she also watches Youtube videos in order to improve her English. Very very hardworking, and I’m always impressed by her!
She’s originally from Hyogo Prefecture in the Kansai area, so she speaks with a kansai accent when she was working in Japan. However, now that she’s in Singapore and she has to serve Japanese guests who might not be used to the kansai dialect, she has to speak standard Japanese, but sometimes her kansai accent comes out when she’s not aware, which is very cute because of her ‘oops’ reaction.
She’s a very very smiley and cheerful person, although it must have been hard for her to leave Japan and come to Singapore, she never ever complains even when she’s having a hard time getting used to things.

Shuji

Shuji may look very cool and unapproachable, but he’s actually very friendly and approachable! He always crack a lot of jokes with me while we’re waiting for the next customer to arrive. He also sometimes sings out loud to the songs we’re playing in our salon
He’s like a superman. He’s super fast with getting things done, and I often find myself being too slow for him when I’m on shift… And I still makes mistakes… I’m sorry Shuji. He knows exactly what customers want, doesn’t need help translating, and always delivers the exact look they’re going for in a very short time. Which is why Keiko and I always jokes that he’s like a superman hahaha.
He’s super hardworking. He’s constantly researching and looking for the next good menu that we could bring in, or ways that we can improve our current menu. He also stays back the latest. Although we close at 8 PM, he sometimes allows customers to make appointments for 8 PM even though he’ll end beyond 10 PM… How is he getting his rest?!

Masami

She’s super bubbly and outgoing, and always makes jokes with Seiya mostly teasing him. And Seiya in turn makes a lot of jokes about her with a straight face too, which is mostly hilarious coming from my end.
She’s very meticulous, and always tells right away when I have or do not have make up on. She also remembers each customers’ likes and dislikes without even bothering to note them down – which makes me wonder how she does it… Hmm.
She’s always very worried about her Englis proficiency but every time she asks me to translate, she’s usually just getting me to confirm things she’s already said so somemtimes customers tell me they already understand her even without my help. She tries very hard to express herself, so I’m sure everyone can understand her perfectly!

Sorry for the very lengthy post, but my time with Art-Noise has been so fun that I just thought that I should pen it all down. All of our stylists are extremely kind, friendly, polite and also skilled, so please, do not ever hesitate if you wish to try out our service. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, like many of our other customers. Do book early to avoid disappointments – they are almost always fully booked, especially if you want to assign a specific stylist. I hope my post here has allowed our dear readers a better insight into our stylists here!

I always thought Japanese were extremely kind and polite to begin with, but they are very much more than I originally imagined. I really had fun over here, it’s a shame I had to leave due to personal reasons. I hope you like Art-Noise as much as I do!
