Hair FAQ: Aqua Rebonding

We’ve been receiving some queries regarding our aqua rebonding hair service lately, so gif-maniac yours truly here has decided to do up a little post answering some common queries about it!

#1: What is aqua rebonding?

A: It is a kind of rebonding similar to soft rebonding, and makes use of chemicals containing many good-for-hair substances such as lipidure, chitosan, and sodium dilauramidoglutamide lysine (INCI), to minimise damage to the hair in the rebonding process. The strength of the chemicals used will be adjusted according to the customer’s hair type after consultation (e.g. slightly lower strength for thinner/more fragile hair).

#2: How straight will my hair be after an aqua rebonding?

A: The desired effect of the aqua rebonding is a natural sort of straightness, so it will not be Cleopatra wig straight. The final result will be something similar to this ⇓

#3: How long will it take, and how long will it last?

Assuming a full-head rebonding, the whole rebonding process will take an estimated 3-3.5hours. Yes, it’s very long. A lot of steps involved. Long or short hair, it will still take very long. Length makes very negligible difference in this case.

Generally speaking, the rebonded parts of your hair will stay straight, but your roots will grow out, so a rebonding touchup is generally recommended after 3 months or so. Frizzing is also a bit of an inevitability after a few months due to the high humidity in Singapore.

#4: Can I colour my hair in the same session too?

RECOMMENDED not to. Unless you’re rebonding and colouring different parts of your hair (e.g. fringe rebonding + colouring other sections of your hair), then okay. But generally, we recommend at least a week in between rebonding and colouring, so as to give your hair some down time. The recommended order is rebonding THEN colouring, fyi.
