Difference between hairstyles (SG vs JPN)

Hello everyone! Samantha here again hehe after taking a week off from part-timing because last week was crazily packed with deadlines and also this week ^^;;

Today my topic of choice is to discuss about the different hairstyles that Singaporeans and Japanese like!

For example, in Singapore we see a lot of people going the extra mile to do outstanding and crazy colours but in Japan it’s not as prevalent there – they have only started to pick up on this trend recently!

Also, in Singapore, we observed that a lot of Singaporeans prefer curls that are easy to perm and also easy to maintain, and the same goes for hair colours that stick to the hair and it has to last long!

In Japan, they have preferred natural looking hairstyles for the longest time possible. They do things like natural mohawks, natural ash colours, natural perms and others!

However, unique hairstyles were always popular in Japan, for example, Matsuda Seiko-chan hairstyles (a popular female idol back in the days), pompadour hairstyles and surfer haircuts were the in thing! Yet, we don’t see a homogeneous trend whereby Japanese males and females would follow the crowd and have their hairs cut the same way as these idols!

In Singapore on the other hand, there are a lot of people who prefer individuality and therefore they want to do crazy colours to bring out their personality!

As such, the hair stylists here were saying how Japan could learn from Singapore in this aspect because it would be good if everyone could be like Singaporeans – full of individualism and uniqueness.
