i’ve been tasked to spew out content that i don’t possess for this blog, so here we are once again.

after a 10mins google search and asking around the salon, here is what i’ve gathered about blow/air drying.

using a blow dryer without some sort of heat protectant can be said to quite damaging if done long term, think of it as,,, a nasty slow roast. your scalp has receptors to warn you if its burning but your poor hair strands don’t

some of us prefer to use a higher heat setting to accelerate the drying process (and save us from headaches but we don’t talk about that) and dare i say: Yikes.

our stylists recommend applying some form of hair oil/serum (or any heat protectant, really) to create a barrier and minimise moisture loss.

majority of us prefer the good ol’ method of not doing anything. there’s nothing wrong with it tho. so yeah. oh but also too much friction between hair strands and the towel will lead to more frizz and breakage so watch out.

now, blow drying can give us more volume if done properly. also, it give us the shine and protection we want (again, if done properly). open cuticle from wet hair will be closed with blow drying, locking in the moisture and creating a nice smooth shaft ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) conversely, air drying actually leaves our hair cuticle open, removing shine and allows for moisture to yeet out more readily. hair salon hair salon hair salon hair salon hair salon

in short, use a lower heat setting and layer on the protection for the ultimate shampoo commercial look
