Digital Perm and Normal Perm

Do you know what is digital perm?

It has gotten very common for salons in Singapore to offer digital perm!

But how many knows the difference between a normal perm and digital perm? ╮(︶︿︶)╭

In fact, it seems that many of our customers who visit Art-Noise is unaware of the difference. Most will select the type of perm by looking at the different hairstyles and if that hairstyle is done using digital perm, they will select likewise.

Now, let’s talk about the difference between the normal perm and digital perm shall we? ヽ(*・ω・)ﾉ

The normal perm is commonly known as creep perm or cold perm, and digital perm commonly known as hot perm.

The normal perm only uses the perming solution to curl the hair whereas for digital perm, there is application of heat. Though digital perm can cause more damage to your hair, it is more lasting.

The outcome of the perm style will differ too! To put it simply, with digital perm you can achieve big defined curls when the hair the dried completely. Whereas the normal perm has better defined curls when the hair is damped. So keeping that it mind, the hairstyle that you wish to achieve will influence the choice of perm.

For example, if you wish to have the hairstyle as seen in the photo above, we will definitely recommend digital perm. Though it will take a little bit of effort to maintain the hairstyle, the process is simple! ヽ(・∀・)ﾉ

After washing your hair, dry your hair with a towel well and ensure that it isn’t dripping wet. Next, use a blow dryer to dry your hair while twisting your hair ends. If you like to have the curls facing the front, twist the hair towards your face. If you like to have the curls flowing backwards, twist the hair outwards, away from your face.

This is just a snippet of the differences and there are other factors that come to play when choosing the perm that will best suit your hair and desired hairstyle.
