Trendy Tuesdays #2: Blues

Hello comrades,

It has been a horribly rainy day, and your humble counter staff is here working on a public holiday, and currently into her 7th hour in rain-soaked shoes and socks. Life is sad.

And so to squeeze out some silver lining from the stormy ass clouds of today’s unfortunate weather, today’s post will be a throwback post featuring some of the blue colouring works our stylists have done over the years.

Some of you may have seen this lady here featured on past blog posts before. She is a regular customer of Keiko‘s, and this picture is from her colouring visit some time back. Adding a different colour to the fringe and sides framing your face can be a good way to add some quirkiness into your hair! It’s also an alternative less commonly used compared to highlights and dip-dyes, so it’ll also go quite a ways in upping your uniqueness factor too!

For those of you who prefer more subtle styles, we have the next three styles for your reference!

This first one is a dark blue colour done by stylist Seiya, and a point of note he’d like everyone to know about that colour in particular is that he did it without using any bleach! Do note, however, that blues usually require bleaching, and no-bleach ones such as this one tend to look like themselves only under good, strong light, so do have a good talk with your stylist if you would like a brighter colour!

Another piece by Masami, this is also an inner colour style, except with a brighter shade of blue. For those of you who prefer a younger look, going with a brown base and lighter shade of blue is also a possible option!

Done by stylists Shuji and Toshie respectively, both of these styles are rather outstanding, as you can see. Both also require quite some serious bleaching, so post-colouring homecare on your end will be crucial, once again, to keep your tresses in good shape!

A final note about colour maintenance: as most of your likely already know, blue is a colour that tends to wash out quite fast. As a typically bleach-requiring colour, there is also a high tendency for the faded out base to carry a yellowish tinge. To help your hair colour last longer, as well as to suppress possible yellow-ness from bleaching, regular use of colour shampoo is highly recommended. As part of work duties, I am once again obliged to do a not-very-subtle plug for the Spectrum Colours colour shampoo we are currently selling in our shop. We are only selling the pink and violet versions for it, but the violet one is apparently quite good for suppressing yellowish tones, so we’d recommend it for customers with blue hair too! They’re going at $48 nett (no discount, sad ), so do come down to purchase a bottle to try out its effects for yourself
