How to avoid purple stains on your hands when using purple shampoo

If anyone has actually been reading the blog, you may have noticed one of us bleached her hair recently.

The initial plan was to go for a milk tea beige color, which we wrote a post on right here

However, after bleaching my hair twice I wanted to have some fun with the blonde look. I never thought I would suit bright hair colors but the blonde was not bad at all.

It was pretty yellow at first as all we did was bleach it twice but the stylist recommended me a purple shampoo to get rid of the yellow tone and brighten the blonde look. I was very skeptical at first but it worked like any other shampoo in the market. The application process is exactly the same.

After just one wash with a purple shampoo, I could see that my hair was slightly lighter and not as yellow. As there were immediate visible results. I continued to diligently use a generous amount of the purple shampoo every day for a week. Turns out I actually overdid it, as slight hints of green started appearing in my hair. I was then advised to alternate between my normal shampoo and purple shampoo. The yellowness in my hair has been countered with the purple shampoo and has been fading very well.

We wanted to try out a white color on my hair next, so we bleached my hair 2 more times, and now the hair ends look great! It is not white yet but a very natural blonde look has been achieved as compared to my previous 2 bleaches. Right now, the stylist advised me to stop using the purple shampoo completely as the blonde looks amazing now. Any further use of purple shampoo may cause it to stain again. Thus, a regular shampoo is enough.

At the end of the day, purple shampoo is great for light hair, greyish tones, blondes etc. The purple color is great to counter the yellowness found after bleaching, but of course, use everything in moderation. Once you start seeing hints of green or purple,reduce the usage, and discuss it with your hair stylist. It is not a huge problem to see hints of green and purple after using color shampoo as it is not a hair dye, so it can definitely be corrected. But just to save the hassle, lets be more careful.
