Pop Culture Hair: Daenerys Targaryen

Daenerys Targaryen’s platinum blonde hair and her braids have become iconic in pop culture! Recently I’ve been trying to convince Shuji to watch Game of Thrones but it’s difficult because it’s not on Netflix after all :S

Remember how innocent Daenerys was back in season 1, before she got dragons and started setting people on fire?

No braids back when she had yet to meet with the Dothraki.

In the spirit of the Dothraki, gotta add braids after winning battles!

And in this last season she has enough braids to make my neck ache in sympathy.

These hairstyles are done with wigs, of course, but Emilia Clarke also bleached her hair platinum blonde for season 8! She’s a natural brunette, so there was, as you can imagine, a great deal of damage involved… Which meant that she had to cut her hair short.

There’s really no coming back from bleach damage! Save yourself the heartache and money (and time sitting in the salon chair!), cut it all off, and let it grow again.

Then again, the Mother of Dragons could wear a cabbage on her head and still be gorgeous. Us commoners aren’t that lucky, sadly, but you can always ask a stylist at a trusted hair salon for advice on short hairstyles!
