Hair Colouring and Perms

Hello everyone, justin here. Today’s topic will be about doing colour and perms! Common questions we get regarding these are “Which one should I do first?” or “Is it okay to do both at the same time?” So let us delve deeper into the issue and find out more about it!

Firstly, which should be done first, perm or colour? Our recommendation is to get the perm done first then the colour. The reason being that the chemicals used for the perm will cause colours to fade especially if you have just coloured your hair. To keep the colour and shine of your hair in an ideal state, it is better to do the colour after the perm to ensure that the colour remains.

Next, it is not recommended to do both a perm and colour on the same day! It is best to leave them about a week apart as this will give your hair time to recover between these 2 services. Colour dyes penetrate you hair through the cuticles on the outside why the Perm chemicals directly change the structure of your hair from the inside. Doing both together is highly damaging as it incurs both damage on the inside and outside of your hair. Thus it is better to let your hair rest for a week to prevent excessive stress on your hair.

To summarize, first do the perm then get the colour done at least a week later! Hope this tip is useful for everyone.
