Features of hair dyes at hair salons.

Today we’ll like to talk about the difference between box dyes (that you can buy from supermarkets or pharmacies) and hair dyes done at hair salons.

First, dyes are made by combining a cream base and a water base together. The cream actually contains dye, and colour tones while the water base contains hydrogen peroxide, which opens the hair cuticle. By mixing the two, the dye will actually then be able to colour your hair from the inside.

The time it takes for the dye to act on your hair after mixing, is about 30 minutes to 1 hour, after which it won’t be effective. Which is why, even box dyes won’t work better even if you leave it on longer. It will only damage your hair more, so please stick to the instructions on the box when you’re using such products.

Also, even when salons are using the same colour, by applying it a few times, the colour will actually turn out richer and more vibrant. Ash shades actually look better after applying twice than once.

Another point is, even with the same colour, it actually looks different depending on the person! It actually depends on the customer’s hair quality, such as the thickness of each individual strand, to what extent is the hair damaged, the original colour of the hair (the amount of melanin inside), etc etc.
