Taming Down Frizz

Hello comrades. Hope you are all having a good day 1 of the weekend.

It’s been a rainy couple of days, and for those of y’all who didn’t get the blessings of the Hair God before you got reincarnated into this life, it is about the time when your hair starts being thoroughly disobedient and frizzing everywhere (like moi sobs). And so for today’s post, we have compiled a small list of tips we’ve heard our stylists give our customers on taming their manes!

#1: Blow-drying

Blow-drying thoroughly in the morning and after washing your hair is highly recommended! After-shower blow-drying is especially important for those of us with frizzy hair, as the best way to tame down those kinks is to run them down straight with a comb and a dryer. Best also to start blow-drying from the areas of most concern during the process – if your fringe is usually the one bothering you, for instance, you should start blow-drying from your fringe before moving on to the rest of your hair!

#2: Leave-in treatments

Applying a good leave-in treatment onto towel-dried hair before commencing the blow-drying also goes a good way in taming down frizz. For those of you who might need stronger frizz control measures (like moi again sobs), a tip we’ve gotten from a kind visiting stylist is to use two treatments – one milk-based one first for moisturising your locks, as the most common cause of frizzing is dehydration of your tresses, followed by an oil-based treatment to seal in the moisture. Finish off with a good blow-dry, and your tresses should, SHOULD be a lot more manageable when you wake up the next morning.

#3: Shampoos

Part of the basics of hair care, using a good shampoo and treatment will go a long way in helping to maintain the health of your locks and scalp. When using rinse-off treatments, do take care to avoid your scalp, as rinse-off treatments tend to be quite heavy, and may end up weighing down your scalp and the younger hair at your roots.

According to our stylists, the shampoo and treatment are baby-grade safe, so you do not have to worry about any harmful residues remaining in your hair after use. Our SHA treatment is also quite light, so you don’t have to avoid your scalp when using it too!

#4: Styling

Unfortunately according to our stylists, hair styling generally will not last very long with the kind of weather we’ve been having of late. The best way, I suppose, would be to get a good haircut that requires minimal styling. For those with short hair who might need a bit of help to make your hair look less flat, our regular gel-using stylist Keiko recommends using a good gel to hold your style up and together. Other than that… we’ve heard getting a point-perm on the shorter hairs toward the top of your head is a good way to permanently relieve yourself of the trouble of daily styling (more money though, so pick your poison).
