Some hair care tips for you

I’m sure the countless colour posts have been lacklustre and meaningless to the lives of many, the empty content leaving little information to benefit your daily routine. Therefore the council have decided that we should churn out the occasional useful post for hair care and the like.

Fret not, your fruitless search is over. This is a comprehensive list of hair care tips that you may not know.

Hair Combing

When combing or brushing your hair, especially for tangled/easily-tangled hair, start from the ends and work your way up in sections so as not to aggravate the existing tangles. Tugging and pulling on tangles will result in hair damage Extra Tip: If a tangle/knot is particularly stubborn, using your thumb and index rub it gently until the tangle comes apart before trying to comb it through again.

An important thing to note is that hair is most vulnerable when wet and therefore more prone to breakage. Use a wide-tooth comb instead of a brush if you are detangling wet/damp hair.

Hair Washing

When washing your hair, lukewarm or cool water is best as hot water is damaging to the hair. Using soft, circular motions, gently massage the shampoo into your scalp and hair to effectively remove the residue and buildup. This will also prevent tangling and damage. Extra Tip: Alternate your hair wash days as much as possible (unless you have very oily scalp etc). Washing your hair daily will strip the hair of its natural oils and dehydrate it which would result in increased hair fall and breakage.

Any conditioner should be applied from mid-length to the tips, avoiding the scalp. If conditioner is used on the roots, it can cause unwanted buildup on the scalp. It is also best to use the same brand and/or series of shampoo and conditioner as they are generally formulated to work best when used together.
