Periods and your hair

Now ladies, we dread this time of the month. It gives us endless cravings, our stomach hurts from the cramps, we feel bloated, our skin is breaking out, and you know what? Our hair is actually affected too.

During your periods, we all know that our hormones go crazy right? Well, that produces testosterone, which produces more sebum that makes our hair look oily. (Like Singapore’s humid weather isn’t doing it’s part already)

Just like how our skin feels more sensitive during that time of month, our scalp is also more sensitive and tender. This is because the body produces a hormone that increases our pain sensitivity.

Finally, we experience an increase in hair fall too. This is caused by a drop in estrogen and iron levels due to the blood loss during our periods.

Do consult a doctor before you choose to have iron supplements added into your diet.
