Never sleep with wet hair

After a long, tiring day, all we want to do is take a nice hot shower and crawl into bed under the covers, until the sun comes up. But while this may give you a good night’s sleep, if you have wet hair, sleeping in it might lead to a few issues. We’ve all been in this situation and there’s no denying that most of us are guilty of going to bed with wet hair once in a while or all the time just because we’re too lazy. If you’re following this, you need to stop ASAP. Sleeping with wet hair can lead to a bunch of issues that are both bad for your hair and physical health as well.

It Can Lead To Hair Breakage

Suffering from terrible hair loss? Sleeping with wet could be one of the culprits. Your hair cuticles open up when it’s wet, making it more prone to breakage and damage. So, the constant turning and rolling over while sleeping can easily damage your hair strands, make it dull and even cause breakage.

Increases The Chances Of Fungal Infections

Bacteria and germs thrive in a damp, moist environment and your hair is not exempted from this. Sleeping with wet hair not only strips away the natural oil from the strands but also leads to the growth of fungus which results in scalp infection and dandruff. When you sleep with wet hair, the moisture gets trapped between your head and pillowcase, it becomes a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and fungus. All these factors mixed together can destroy or weaken your hair follicles, resulting in hair fall.

Wake Up With Tangles

Sleeping with wet hair is the fastest way to wake up with tangles and knots in your hair. Unlike what you see on-screen, your hair won’t be silky, smooth, when you wake in the morning, in fact, you may end up with a frizz-fest on your head.

So, What Can You Do?

Try to wash your hair earlier in the evening to have more time for drying. Or wash it the next morning.
Use your hairdryer! This is the best way to ensure that your hair is totally dry when you crawl into bed.
If you’re feeling super lazy, at least let it dry partially. Going to bed with a freshly washed and wet hair is a recipe for growing bacteria.
