Managing Frizzy Hair in Humidity

I hope that you are having a nice day. Today I will be sharing some tips regarding how to manage hair in a place so humid as Singapore. I am sure that tons of people (including myself!!) are troubled by hair inflation when it rains and when you sweat.

First of all, why does humidity cause your hair to expand? There are several factors that can cause this. If you have damaged hair, your cuticles are peeling off, which means that water molecules in the atmosphere will creep into your hair through those peeled-off cracks. These water molecules that infiltrate each hair strand will cause unsteadiness in the entire flow of hair. Secondly, even if you do not have much hair damage, if you have naturally wavy hair, water molecules in the humid air still escalate the waviness and thus cause frizziness.

What are some countermeasures that can prevent this hair inflation?

1) Blow dry your hair! Minimizing the time that you keep your hair wet not only controls the spread of hair, but it is better for your scalp as well. Applying some treatment midway into completely drying your hair may condition your hair even better.

2) Straightening your hair through rebonding! If you have naturally wavy hair, simply blow drying your hair every night may not solve the problem. Rebonding your hair definitely helps straighten your hair and keeps it under control even on especially humid days.
