Caring for your perm

Getting your hair permed seems like a great idea, if you think about waking up with voluminous hair that requires minimal styling. However, many of us struggle with the aftercare of a perm, and bringing out the best of these curls.

Right after you get your perm, you will notice that stylists will simply scrunch your hair with their fingers to style your hair. We want to avoid combing through your curls as that will disrupt the form of your curls.

As with every chemical process that you get in a salon, it causes stress to your hair. That is why aftercare for your hair is important too. It is highly recommended to nourish and hydrate your hair with homecare treatments to repair the loss nutrients.

For perms, it is important that you do not towel dry your hair as it causes friction and weakens your hair. Rather, after detangling your hair, allow your curls to airdry. Ideally, it would be great if you could avoid any heat styling products to avoid further weakening your hair. However, if you have to use a hairdryer, you can use it with a cool setting and attach a diffuser to distribute the heat instead of focusing the heat on one area.
